Samarahan Package 3D water supply project 94.83 per cent complete

SADONG JAYA: The water supply project involving Package 3D costing RM54.9 million, is now 94.83 per cent complete.

Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said the project involved the construction and completion of transmission main across Batang Sadong Bridge to Simunjan/Sebuyau, pipe replacement, relocation and extension at Sebangan and Sebuyau and associated works in Samarahan Division.

“The scope of work includes Installation of High-Density Polyethylene) HDPE pipes of size 355mm in Sebangan and Sebuyau, spanning 15.3km.

“It also includes the installation of Mild Steel Cement Lining (MSCL) pipes of size 600mm at Batang Sadong Bridge (blue colour) for the Simunjan and Sebuyau areas from Kampung Sg Ladong directly to Sebangan and Sebuyau,” he said after visit the progress of the project recently.

Upon full completion in Sept 2024, he said the project will supply treated water to Simunjan (Simunjan headwork) and subsequently increase water pressure to the Simunjan area.

“There will also be the upgrading of existing pipe distribution systems in Sebangan and Sebuyau,” he said.

He added there were also several completed packages in the Samarahan Division namely Package 1D project at the cost of RM22.98, Package 2A (RM147 million), Package 3A (RM31.8 million), Package 3B (RM22.8 million), Package 3C (RM 36.7 million), Package 3E (RM15 million), and Package 3F (RM10.1 million).

“The water project in the Samarahan Division is part of the Sarawak state water supply master plan and is being implemented with the funding from the Sarawak government.

“This project will form part of the Sarawak water grid system in the southern zone and subsequently across the state when all water projects are completed,” said Julaihi.
