KUCHING, July 12: As Frank Sinatra famously sang of New York, it is the place where making it means you can make it anywhere.
For young Sarawakian vocalist Taylor Louise, that sentiment rang true as she stood on the stage of Carnegie Hall, where she not only represented Malaysia but also emerged with First Prize and the Excellent Young Talent Special Prize at the New York International Golden Classical Music Awards in the 10–12-year-old Vocal category.
In a Facebook post, she thanked the Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, for making her trip to New York for the competition possible.

“Standing on the stage of Carnegie Hall in New York felt like a dream come true. As the only Sarawakian in this competition, I felt incredibly honoured to represent Sarawak and Malaysia.
“From a little girl in Kuching to the stage of Carnegie Hall—dreams really do come true,” she said.
As Malaysia’s sole representative at the New York International Golden Classical Music Awards, she went head-to-head with young musicians and performers from countries including the United States, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Brazil, India, China, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Israel, France, Russia, Taiwan, Croatia, Türkiye, the Netherlands, Canada, Switzerland, Indonesia, and Australia. — DayakDaily
