Woman presses gas pedal, crashes into 10 vehicles

KUCHING: An elderly woman, who wanted to park her BMW car at Pasar Sungai Maong Batu 3, had accidentally crashed into 10 other vehicles today (Aug 1) after mistakenly pressing the gas pedal instead of the brake.

Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said that the incident occurred around 9.45 am.

“The 80-year-old woman was about to park her vehicle and suddenly pressed the gas pedal by mistake, hitting 10 vehicles in the parking lot.

“The case is still under investigation, and no injuries were reported,” he said when contacted.

Mohd Irwan stated that the elderly woman could face a fine for failing to control her vehicle.

Aside from that, her driving license could also be suspended.
